Strangest Book of the Week #6 – Double Header!
I find it amazing how much research and documentation has gone into the search for Bigfoot, or Sasquatch, Yeti, whatever you want to call them. There are those who spend their lifetimes studying cryptozoology, and often devoted to a single type of legendary creatures, of which the Loch Ness Monster is the other big name. Last year we acquired the library from the estate of a man with whom we could chart his interests over the years by the books he bought. Our sense was that he was relatively wealthy and could indulge his eccentricities. He began fairly grounded, back in the ’70s, went on to various things, shifted to spirituality and as he got older the more interested he was in the paranormal. And Bigfoot; lots of books on Bigfoot, of which the following are only a sample:
Meet The Sasquatch
by Christopher L Murphy, with John Green and Thomas Steenburg, 2004. ISBN 0888395736.
This is an oversize paperback book that boasts “[never] have so many associated photographs been published under one cover. Indeed many photographs are being published for the first time”. Diagrams, castings of foot prints, fuzzy photographs, artist’s renditions, this book has it all. This is quite the scientific exploration of Sasquatch, at least in comparison to the following book.
The Psychic Sasquatch and their UFO Connection
by Jack “Kewaunee” Lapseritis, M.S. preface by Dr. R. Leo Sprinkle, foreword by Dick Robinson and afterword by Standing Elk, 1998. ISBN 0926524178.
No description of mine could possibly do justice. So here’s a couple lengthy interviews with the author:
So there you have it.
And I would never dream of depriving you of some photos of the books:
